Are Wedding QR Codes Worth It?

Decide whether a QR code is useful for collecting your wedding guest photos.

Create your event

Guests can share from their browser, with no app to download.

The short answer

A QR code is useful when it takes guests straight to a place where they can share photos. It works best with a clear instruction, a tested print, and a backup link.

A simple plan

Choose one purpose

Use the code to open your event album.

Test the code

Scan the printed version on a phone.

Place it well

Put it where guests naturally pause.

Share a backup

Send the link to anyone who cannot scan.

When a photo QR code helps

SituationWhy it can helpWhat to check
Many guests take photosThey have one place to contributeExplain what the code opens
Guests use different phonesA browser link can be easy to shareTest on more than one device
The venue has weak signalGuests can save the link for laterGive them a written link too
You want a later revealGuests know to come backTell them when the album will open

A QR code does not collect photos on its own. It needs to point to an upload page, and guests still need a connection to upload. If everyone already shares a few pictures in one family chat, a separate event album may not be necessary.

What to print

Put the code on a welcome sign or table card with one instruction: “Scan to add your photos.” Test a printed copy in the venue lighting before you make the rest. Include the written link as a backup.

After the event

Send the same link once more for late uploads. Download the photos before your storage period ends.

How OwnPix helps

OwnPix links your event QR code to a browser upload page. Guests can share photos and videos without installing an app.
