Dropbox explains its current features. Features and limits may depend on the plan; check the provider before booking.
A file request is not a shared gallery
Dropbox file requests accept files from people without Dropbox accounts and place them in the host’s folder. Dropbox says the destination is private by default, so sharing the collection afterward is a separate step. OwnPix opens the event album to guests after its reveal.
Which should you choose?
Choose OwnPix if you want a dedicated photo and video album with a QR code and an optional reveal. Guests can add their moments from a browser.
Choose Dropbox if you want an upload inbox inside a folder you already manage. Check your account storage, file request settings and how guests will see the finished collection.
Inbox versus shared gallery
Dropbox file requests collect uploads into a folder selected by the requester. That is useful for gathering files privately, but guests do not automatically browse a shared event album through the request.
OwnPix gives guests an event gallery when it becomes available. Choose Dropbox if your priority is a file inbox; choose an event album if the shared viewing experience matters.
Before sending the invitation
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Upload window | Guests need time to add their photos |
| Album access | Know when to return and download a copy |
| Sharing | A link can be forwarded; tell guests who can see the gallery |
Test the QR code on another phone. In OwnPix, anyone with the event link can view the gallery once it is available.
